- Tag List Tool Set-up -

H-Justify and V-Justify

These allow the tag to be repositioned within its bounding rectangle. To do this select the H-Justify and V-Justify settings required when adding the tag. Then by selecting one of the resizing handles with the left mouse button and dragging the mouse this will change the size of the tags bounding rectangle and in so doing reposition the tag accordingly.

Stretch

This is selected to resize the tags font. Especially useful if the font size required is non-standard. To stretch the tags font, tick the stretch checkbox and press OK. Then by selecting one of the resizing handles with the left mouse button and dragging the mouse the size of the tags font will be changed.

Recipe selection

Tags can be included in recipes. There are three independent recipes available for every drawing created numbered 1,2 & 3. Which means the recipes created on any particular drawing can only be accessed from that drawing. These recipe items can also be given a priority level. This priority level indicates the order the recipe tag data is exported to, for example, an instrument. The lower the number the high the priority level and therefore the earlier the data is exported. If the priority level is set to zero, (0) though, the data will not be sent. Therefore, for exporting data, the highest usable level will be one, (1) and the lowest level will be ninety-nine, (99). By default, the recipe selection is set to none with a priority level of five, (5).

Display Format

This sets the format of the displayed data, for example, if in Data Managers logger a tag has the values of 1234, and a display format is set to ???.?, then the value that will be displayed on screen will be 123.4. Or if the display format is set to ??.????, then the value displayed on screen will be 12.3400. The default format is ???.?. Also the ? character is only the default, any character could be used, e.g. ###.#. It is important to remember that if the display format is not long enough to accommodate the returned data the end of said data could be truncated.

Tag Input Limits

Limits the values entered under the Operator, Supervisor and Manager login levels. These can be set for individual tags. The limits information is displayed in the Object Helper and on the Data Entry dialog for convenience. The display format of the limits is controlled by the display format above.

Allow Data Entry

This option when selected allows new data to be written to the associated tag. If this option is not selected (Not allowed) the tag is effectively read only. The read only condition is the default. The levels are as follows;

Not allowed
>= Operator
>= Supervisor
>= Manager

Auto Close

This option when selected will cause the Read/Write data dialog to close automatically after a Read or Write operation has taken place. The Read/Write data dialog is executed when a tag is selected by a left mouse button click during run mode. The default condition is Non-auto close.

Interpret as String

This option allows numeric values to be interpreted and displayed as text strings. To use the option a text file must be created as follows.

The first line in the file must be,

[ias]

Followed by any number of lines containing,

Numeric value = String.

Note: The numeric values do not have to be in any sequence or in any specific order.

E.g.
--------------------------------------------------
[ias]
10=Sending information now !
20=Temperature is critical !
49=Level 1 alarm, press abort now.
32=Process has completed, OK.
57=Process has failed...
--------------------------------------------------

The Interpret as String filename can be anything as long as it has a .IAS extension.

E.g. messages.ias or alarmlist.ias

When the Interpret as String option is selected, a popup dialog box appears prompting the user to select from a drop down list box the required, previously created file. If one is selected and the close button is pressed the Interpret as String checkbox on the tag setup dialog will ticked to indicate this.

Hint: Make sure the tags border is big enough to accommodate the longest string that could be displayed else the string could be truncated.

These settings can be changed again later by double-clicking the tag or selecting ‘object properties’ from the menu.
