Creation of History files
Alarms are only written to the
daily history file when their condition becomes Safe. In other words
when they have been Acknowledged and Cleared.
Colour coding
There are four alarm states.
These are, Activated, Acknowledged, Cleared and Safe.
Activated alarms are shown in Red
and exist until acknowledged or cleared.
Acknowledged alarms are shown in Blue
and exist until cleared.
Cleared alarms are shown in Yellow
and exist until acknowledged.
Safe alarms are shown in Green
and only exist until the alarms window is refreshed or the Remove
Safe Alarms toolbar button is pressed.
Alarm Columns
Type column
This column displays the type of
alarm that has occurred. It also displays the quick reference image
Tag Name column
This column displays the tag name
that the alarm refers to.
Value column
This column displays the alarms
value, in other words the alarm trigger level.
Severity (#) column
This column displays the alarms
severity level. This has no real meaning other than to aid the
sorting and filtering of historical alarms.
Activated column
This column displays the date and
time of when the alarm occurred.
Acknowledged column
This column displays the date and
time of when the alarm was acknowledged.
Cleared column
This column displays the date and
time of when the alarm cleared.
Message column
This column displays the user set
alarm message. E.g. Over Temperature.
Sorting
When any of the column headers
are pressed the associated columns will be sorted. On each press of
the column header the sort order will swap between assending and
decending order.
Toolbar buttons
Acknowledge button
When pressed all currently
selected alarms will be Acknowledged.
note: This only applies to
alarms which are currently Activated or Cleared.
Acknowledge
All button
When pressed all outstanding
alarms will be Acknowledged.
note: This only applies to
alarms which are currently Activated or Cleared.
Remove Safe button
When pressed all current Safe
alarms will be removed from the display window. This is used mainly
to keep the display clear of non-critical conditions.
Historical Mode button

This button has a dual action. When first pressed another dialog box appears presenting a list of historical files that can be loaded. (if any exist)
When one of the available files is selected its associated historical information is loaded into the alarms window. While in historical mode new alarms will not be display. They are still registered though and will be displayed when returning to real time mode.
When this button is pressed again real time mode is restored.
Defaults button
When pressed this button simply
returns the alarms window back to its defaults. Includes, resizingthe
window, repositioning the window and realigning the columns.
Filter Mode button
When pressed the filters dialog
box appears. From this dialog the historical information can be
filtered to show only the required data. This window does not need to
be closed during filter operations. Therefore, it is possible, for
example, to sort the filtered information and then re-filter it, etc.

Print button
Simply printsthecurrently display
alarm information, wether real or historical.
Close Window button
Closes the alarms window.
note: If another trip
alarms occurs though and it does not have the hidden attribute set
(the default) the alarms window will popup again.
